The Lynching of George Floyd

May 25, 2020 George Floyd was lynched in Minneapolis Minnesota at the hands of law enforcement for the whole world to see by way of video. Floyd was detained by four Minneapolis police officers upon leaving a store. It was alleged he had counterfeit currency.

Based on various video accounts Floyd was not shown to be unruly nor did said accounts demonstrate Floyd ever resisted arrest. The only resistance that’s clear to a large segment of the world was former officer Derek Chauvin forcibly kneeling on Floyd’s neck that ultimately resulted in his death.

This afternoon, Chauvin was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter. As of this writing the other three officers have not been charged.

It’s a damn shame that Chauvin was arrested so late in the game yet CNN Reporter, Omar Jimenez, a man of color mind you, was arrested yesterday on live television for merely doing his job.

February 23, 2020 Ahmaud Arbery was murdered while jogging.

March 13, 2020 Breona Taylor was murdered in her own home.

On Memorial Day Floyd is lynched on the streets of Minneapolis by law enforcement over an alleged counterfeit $20 bill?

As of this writing protests are taking place throughout parts of the country stemming from the heinous lynching of Floyd. It’s beautiful to see because there are many young people roaming the streets along with many whites voicing and demonstrating their frustration with a flawed society that’s entrenched with racism.

How blatant does it have to be for men and women of color to get anything that can be characterized as justice?

Obviously an African-American man pleading for his life was not enough to move “swiftly” to ration justice. Instead, I believe the political bigots are strategizing on how to avert administering the justice that’s richly deserved.

I don’t give a damn what anyone says, had the officers been African-American and the victim white an arrest would have been made faster than Usain Bolt running the 100-meter dash.

Protesting commenced in Minneapolis which would later succumb to looting and burning buildings down to the ground. Some on social media and the media at large don’t understand why people would destroy the community in which they live. To me, the answer is simple.

Frustration.

Martin Luther King once said those who riot and protest “speak the language of the unheard” because their collective pleas aren’t heard because black lives don’t matter to white racists. African-Americans are fed up. We are damn sick and tired of inequitable justice being bestowed upon us without equitable recourse. Many of those who demonstrate and protest are sick of the public lynchings at the hands of racist white men where said behavior is both condoned and welcomed by a white supremist judicial system.

I believe the judicial system will work to assist the white officer(s) to get sentence(s) that’s light as a feather or no sentence at all.

Remember the Rodney King beating in 1992?

There was a graphic tape of the King beating for all to see only for all four white LAPD officers to be acquitted.

African-Americans do not trust the judicial system. I have been pulled over by law enforcement on multiple occasions and harassed with the only probable cause being the permanent tan that I sport.
Furthermore, I know first-hand how evil the system is and the willful depths judicial officials will stoop to ensure white supremacy triumphs over justice. For instance, my mother was murdered at Parkview Hospital in 2011 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The judges involved in my particular case falsified documents, took bribes and colluded with the medical provider to cover-up my mother’s death.

Not one singular outlet here will talk to me let alone report my ordeal. I have been fighting this battle for nearly ten years in the courts. I will continue to fight until justice is served.

One way or the other, Floyd must get justice as well. Floyd consistently proclaimed, “I can’t breathe!” as Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck for a total of 8 minutes 46 seconds. Chauvin continued to kneel on Floyd’s neck for 2 minutes and 53 seconds after it was determined by Chauvin’s cohorts Floyd did not have a pulse.

Chauvin wasn’t kneeling on Floyd’s neck in protest like Colin Kaepernick did in 2016. Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for one reason and one reason only; it was to arrogantly lynch Floyd for all to see as Floyd persistently pled for his life to be spared.

White supremacy exists out of a collection of fear, ignorance and pursuit of power. The 1-3 percent of the world power elite are willing to resort to any measures to ensure African-Americans don’t understand their history so they will understand the wealth of knowledge and power that once existed long ago originating in Africa. White elite racist fear if African-Americans tap into their spirit and awaken there will be an orchestrated reclamation of what use to be and can be in the future.

The ignorance spawns from those whites who enjoy the fruit of their white predecessor’s racism by way of white privilege. A segment of whites don’t understand why African-Americans are angry because many of the ills we face whites don’t have to account for let alone deal with. The un-attacked ignorance serves to keep division rampant and aggregate understanding fleeting at best.

Power is cemented by the oppression of African-Americans as the system willfully promotes division. A group that’s divided through a concentrated effort to oppress cannot reasonably come together to rally around a common goal.

African-Americans around the world who are alive today, unlike Floyd, are breathing but collectively we are on life support. Every time an African-American awakens for another day they also have to consider their life can end because of white supremacy and racism.

To the contrary, whites benefit from the perks of racism by way of white privilege. Simply for having skin that’s characterized as white, the proverbial benefit of the doubt is consistently provided in all situations. To the contrary, African-Americans, in similarly situated events, not only has to account for the worse possible outcome in any given situation, they can often expect it. Any act that whites take for granted could result in death for African-Americans for things like jogging, enjoying one’s home or patronizing a store.

I believe African-Americans must continue to rigorously protest by any means necessary to ensure they are heard. There are many instances in the historical development of this country where lives have been given in order to bring about justice and pave the way for future generations. If that means arms must be taken on the aggregate then so be it.

If bigots can storm the State House in Michigan to voice their unfounded displeasure why can’t African-Americans do the same in the name of truth, righteousness and justice for all?

I also believe that whites have a responsibility to collectively co-opt open minds and take an assertive approach to comprehend what’s going on in the world today. Instead of accusing African-Americans of playing a race-card ask, “what level of credence does their collective pleas have?” Allow reason to infiltrate your psyche and act in accord to simply do what’s right.

We are dealing with a human rights problem. The more we can unite the better we are able to collectively deal with the ills that hamper this country.

Bottom line: African-Americans are not going anywhere irrespective of white supremists best efforts to exterminate us collectively. Long is the struggle, hard is the fight. One thing is for certain we cannot collectively opt for flight.
